WHO Multi-country study on women's health & domestic violence against women (pdf 660kb)

This report summarises the findings of the WHO Multi-country Study on Women's Health and Domestic Violence against Women.

The study was designed to address some of the major gaps in international research on violence against women, including:

- The prevalence of violence against women, with particular emphasis on physical, sexual and emotional violence by male intimate partners
- The extent to which intimate partner violence is associated with a range of health outcomes
- The factors that may either protect or put women at risk of partner violence
- The strategies and services that women use to deal with violence by an intimate partner

Key recommendations of the paper include increasing the support provided to women in violent situations, and dedicating greater resources to research and collaboration into further studies and programs aimed at women.
