World Trade Report 2007: Six decades of multilateral trade cooperation: what have we learnt? (pdf 3.5mb)
This 2007 World Trade Report reviews the history, achievements and impacts of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and its successor, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) over the last 60 years.It looks at the origins of the GATT and WTO, the rationale behind trade cooperation and what remains to be achieved through the multilateral trading system.
The report also discusses future challenges to global trade, including:
- The management and utilisation of non-tariff measures
- The effects of regulation on economic conditions
- The role of trade in providing opportunities to benefit from an efficient and well-priced supply of services
- Environmental issues and their relationship to trade
