Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Finance for all? Policies and pitfalls in expanding access

This document identifies barriers preventing small firms and poor households from accessing and using financial services.

Issues covered in this report include:
- Measuring access to finance and its impact on development
- Access by firms to adequate finance
- Access by households to adequate finance
- Role of the government in facilitating access to finance

The report also provides recommendations to governments and donors on how access to finance can be improved through policy and legislative measures.
