Improving access, equity & transitions in education: creating a research agenda (pdf 580kb)

This paper outlines some of the realities and concerns that surround access and exclusion to education in poor countries. It is intended to serve as an introduction to some of the research that the Consortium for Research on Educational Access, Transitions and Equity (CREATE) is developing.

It addresses new ways of thinking about access and is an invitation to develop insightful and significant studies.  It also provides reviews of the many different dimensions that will shape improved access.

The paper provides an opportunity to develop and locate discussions around improved access at many different levels:
- Household
- Community
- School
- National
- International

The paper highlights that improved access requires action at all these levels and across the levels where these interact.
