Guidelines for community development in the disaster context (pdf 890kb)
Emergency Management Australia has been developed to assist in producing effective post-disaster community development activities.The manual examines the way in which a community development approach can best be utilised to enhance the process of disaster recovery.
The manual offers specific information and focuses on the following points:
- Desired outcomes for community development in the disaster context
- Indicators of need to identify when it may be appropriate to resource and promote community development activity
- Funding and employment of community development officers
- Management and support of community development officers
- A range of specific initiatives and activities which may be appropriate to community development work in a disaster context
