This 2007 Estimation Report provides an update of the HIV epidemic in Papua New Guinea. It provides essential data on planning, resource allocation, advocacy, and HIV policy formulation, in addition to the design of prevention, behaviour change, treatment, care and support programs in Papua New Guinea.Section I provides a background on the PNG national response, the contexts of official estimations and projections and outlines data from previous consensus workshops.
Section II outlines the most recent epidemiological data on routine case reporting of HIV and AIDS, sentinel surveillance data from ANC, STI and TB clinics, and behavioural surveillance data.
Section III provides the most recent official HIV estimations and projections based on the ANC data set.
