Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Women and girls living with HIV/AIDS: overview & annotated bibliography (pdf 300kb)

This report, prepared at the request of Irish Aid by BRIDGE in collaboration with the International Community of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (ICW), considers the specific challenges faced by women and girls who are living with HIV and AIDS. It consists of an overview, annotated bibliography, and contacts section.

The report identifies some specific challenges as:
- Issues around care, treatment and support
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights
- Legal and economic rights
- Rights to meaningful involvement

The report offers recommendations including:
- Supporting women's rights to care, treatment and support
- Meeting the sexual and reproductive health needs of positive women and girls
- Protecting women's livelihood opportunities
- Promoting the meaningful involvement of women and girls living with HIV and AIDS
