Barriers to services for children with HIV-positive parents in five high prevalence states of India (pdf 470kb)

This study investigated the issue of HIV affected children being excluded from services and benefits available to non-HIV affected children in their communities in India.

These services include education, health care and the support of their extended families and communities. The study found that children who were affected by HIV were mistreated or overlooked in these services within the five high prevalence states.

The report also examines the following issues:
- HIV/AIDS in India;
- The well-being of children with HIV-positive parents
- Overcoming the barriers to quality of life for affected children
- The need for education among professionals in health, education and welfare about children who are affected by HIV.
