Exploring issues of health & well being of older people: symposium report

This webpage provides an overview and the presentations of the 2005 Symposium on exploring issues of health and well-being of older people.

The aim of this symposium was to discuss the impact of demographic change on the health and well-being of older people and their families in resource poor settings.

Older people make significant economic and social contributions to their families and communities. Yet older people often become dependent through preventable illness or disability.

- The impact of HIV on older people
- Health promotion
- Back problems
- Promoting health & well-being of older people
- Resilience study findings
