Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Urban street children empowerment and support (pdf 1.5mb)

This report provides an overview of the Urban street children empowerment and support project implemented by Save the Children and USAID in Indonesia.  The program was designed to partner with local NGOs to expand, strengthen, and mobilize local responses to address the needs of girls and boys living and working on the street in Surabaya, Bandung, Jakarta and Medan.

This report overviews the program's context, design and results. Results include:
- Enhanced capacity of NGOs to deliver assistance to street children
- Increased access to and use of health services by street children
- Special needs of female street children addressed
- Alternatives to the street developed
