Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Comprehensive kampung improvement program

This paper examines the Comprehensive kampung improvement program (C-KIP) in Surabaya, Indonesia. The project was a new approach introduced to improve services to the community. The component of C-KIP includes physical development, and non-physical development such as community development, land management and home loans.

The paper highlights the main objectives of the program as being:
- Improving role of the community in the development process
- Improving the economic condition of the community
- Improving the infrastructures and quality of community settlements
- Promoting improvement of land ownership and building permits
