Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

This study by the OECD examines the government strategies for ensuring compliance with environmental requirements in China.

Issues explored in the study include:
- The planning, legal and institutional framework for environmental policy implementation in China
- Government strategies for ensuring environmental compliance in China and their effectiveness
- Other instruments to support environmental compliance

The study concludes with a general assessment of the performance of China's environmental compliance system, and how it might be improved to better protect the country's natural resources and environment.
