Participation by crisis-affected populations in humanitarian action: handbook for practitioners (pdf 960kb)
This handbook is designed for humanitarian practitioners and aims to provide them with guidance on how to adopt participatory approaches in humanitarian and emergency work, and how to avoid associated pitfalls and risks.It consists of three parts:
- Designing a strategy for participation in humanitarian action
- Ensuring participation throughout the project cycle
- Sectoral and thematic related issues
The handbook provides a range of methods and tools to improve interaction with affected populations. It also details a range of participatory processes, outlining the advantages and the limitations of each and provides supporting case studies.
