Agribusiness in South Asia (pdf 2.2mb)
This paper reviews the nature, profile and functioning of South Asia's agribusiness sector which has been undergoing rapid changes in the wake of globalisation.The key focus of the paper is investigating the impact of agribusiness corporations, supermarket chains and other large agencies on primary producers in South Asia, and rural poverty reduction more generally.
The paper covers several topics, including:

It concludes with major findings of the study and policy recommendations for how the poverty reduction impact of current agribusiness practices in South Asia can be improved.
