Asia Pacific strategy for emerging diseases (pdf 185kb)
This document outlines a roadmap for Asia-Pacific countries to strengthen core capacities required for effective management and control of emerging infectious diseases.Highlighting the interconnectedness of countries in the region, the document explores ways to build capacity in areas such as preparedness planning, prevention and detection, and containment and control of emerging infectious diseases.
The strategy is organised into 3 parts covering:
Section One - the goals, scope, guiding principles and targeted outcomes of the strategy
Section Two - detailed description of the strategic objectives and desired outcomes, and actions for national, regional and global partners
Section Three - the potential role of WHO and other partners in supporting implementation of the strategy
