Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Asia Pacific strategy for emerging diseases (pdf 185kb)

This document outlines a roadmap for Asia-Pacific countries to strengthen core capacities required for effective management and control of emerging infectious diseases.

Highlighting the interconnectedness of countries in the region, the document explores ways to build capacity in areas such as preparedness planning, prevention and detection, and containment and control of emerging infectious diseases.

The strategy is organised into 3 parts covering:
Section One - the goals, scope, guiding principles and targeted outcomes of the strategy

Section Two - detailed description of the strategic objectives and desired outcomes, and actions for national, regional and global partners

Section Three - the potential role of WHO and other partners in supporting implementation of the strategy
