Delays in the diagnosis & treatment of tuberculosis patients in Vietnam: a cross-sectional study (pdf 275kb)

This paper looks at the factors that delay people's access to tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment in Vietnam.

Based on a 2002 survey of tuberculosis patients, it examines the lengths and causes of different types of delays, including:
Patient delay - time between the first onset of symptoms and the first consultation with a health care provider
Health care delay - time between the first consultation and the start of treatment

Bsed on this data, the paper attempts to identify key factors that contribute to these delays and makes recommendations on how they can be addressed.
