Climate, communications & innovative technologies: radio & internet linkages in rural African communities (pdf 1.2mb)

This case study describes how an ICT initiative in Africa is helping rural communities better respond to climatic events.

The initiative combines radio and internet technologies to communicate news about weather forecasts, rainfall and other climate-related information to rural African farmers and herders.  This information then helps people make decisions about how to manage their crops and livestock.

The case study describes the ICT system in use, its benefits and impacts, as well as challenges and sustainability issues.
