AusAID Annual Review of Development Effectiveness 2007 (pdf 550kb)

This document prepared by AusAID's Office of Development Effectiveness reviews the effectiveness of the Australian aid program for the period of 2006-7.

It provides a broad assessment of the quality and results of the aid program and highlights areas where effectiveness may be strengthened.

The review identified five opportunities to strengthen aid effectiveness:
- Broadening the ways Australia engages in fragile states
- Supporting reform in the larger economies of Asia
- Strengthening performance orientation of the aid program
- Getting the most from technical assistance
- Meeting gender equality commitments

The review is a key element in the Australian Government's efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of the aid program as the aid budget is scaled up to reach 0.5% of Gross National Income by 2015.
