Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The role of ICT in preventing, responding to and recovering from conflict (pdf 1.1mb)

This paper adopts a holistic consideration of ICT use and peace as a prerequisite to social and economic development.

It also explores the possible uses of ICTs from its well known use in warfare: propaganda, intelligence, communications and ICT-enabled weapons systems.  But can ICTs be used in other ways, by other actors, to diffuse a situation leading to conflict, help end a conflict, or allow the stabilisation of a post conflict situation?
