Program/Project cycle

Last updated on 23 September 2008

From the early identification of needs to the design of a program and its later implementation and evaluation, gender equality needs to be integrated into every stage of the program/project cycle. Issues that can hinder mainstreaming gender equality throughout the life of a program/project include: an inability to collect, record and analyse data; poor gender training; lack of understanding of why gender should be considered; lack of accountability and resources; and lack of political will.

Useful checklists, toolkits and case studies are provided here to assist policy makers, practitioners, program designers and field workers with "how to" mainstream gender equality and assess impact in a meaningful and pragmatic way.
