Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Domestic violence

Profiling domestic violence: a multi-country study (pdf 3.8mb)

This study uses household and individual-level data from demographic and health surveys to examine the prevalence of domestic violence and the health consequences for women and their children in developing countries.

It analyses data from 9 countries from Asia, South America and Africa, and compares the findings. Issues explored in the study include:

- The prevalence of different types of domestic violence
- Risk factors for the experience of domestic violence
- Domestic violence and women's empowerment
- Domestic violence and demographic and health outcomes
