Step 7: Identify appropriate form of ICT

  • Is there an appropriate form of ICT which can be deployed in terms of cost, support, maintenance and compatibility with existing information flows?
  • Is it possible to combine several information and communication technologies to deliver the desired cost effective outcome?

For example, it may be important to have a final link which is low cost such as a community radio outlet and radios using renewable energy sources.

  • Is equipment locally available to replace parts easily and provide maintenance support?
  • Is the use of information and communication technologies compatible with existing information flows shaping how the targeted poor communicate?
