Growing up with war: experiences of children affected by armed conflict in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka (pdf 1.3mb)
This study seeks to understand how children are affected by armed conflict in the Sri Lankan context. It focuses on three districts in the Eastern province of Sri Lanka. The findings of the study confirm that children are affected both directly and indirectly by armed conflict in many ways, including but not limited to:
- Death
- Disability
- Loss of family members
- Displacement
Most children were also affected by the conflict through poverty - almost every household covered by this study has become poorer as a result of the conflict.
This publication is also available in Sinhala and Tamil languages.
