An economic development model for IT in developing countries (pdf 110kb)
This paper presents and discusses a framework for designing and implementing ICT initiatives that support economic development in developing countries.It examines evidence on the impacts of ICTs in enhancing the economic growth of developed countries and looks at the barriers that prevent similar progress in developing countries.
The paper then proposes a model framework for how ICT policies and initiatives can be enhanced to improve economic productivity and growth.
It covers issues including:
- Foreign investment
- Government policies and programs
- Social awareness of ICT benefits
- Efficient use of ICTs
