Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Towards a culture of prevention: disaster risk reduction begins at school (pdf 3.2mb)

This publication highlights initiatives which have been taken worldwide to make school buildings safer, and have children take an active role in disaster risk reduction by teachings in schools.

It shows efforts aimed at encouraging the integration of disaster risk education in school curricula in countries vulnerable to natural hazards and the safe construction and retrofitting of school buildings to withstand natural hazards.
