Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Land tenure, titling, access to land

Making land work

Making land work, was published as an information resource for countries undertaking land policy reform, which draws lessons from international experience, canvasses broad principles and approaches, and seeks to stimulate ideas on policy options in the Pacific.

It was produced as part of AusAID's Pacific Land Program consisting of two volumes:
Volume one, Reconciling customary land and development in the Pacific, is an overview of the main issues that Pacific island countries, Papua New Guinea and East Timor - referred to broadly as the Pacific region - are likely to face if they choose to reform their land policies and institutions to promote social and economic development.

Volume two, Case studies on customary land and development in the Pacific, is a collection of 16 studies that look at problems and innovative practices in land tenure and administration across the Pacific region.

Each volume and case study are downloadable as separate documents.
