Economic Governance annual thematic performance review (pdf 105kb)

This AusAID report analyses how the Australian Government can improve the effectiveness of spending on technical assistance, which predominates in the economic governance aid portfolio.

It describes progress against AusAID's policy objectives (including regional progress on the Millennium Development Goals), to identify current challenges in aid delivery and to highlight lessons to inform future investments.

The report shows that while technical assistance has been the dominant mode of assistance for improving economic governance, alternatives to technical assistance should be given greater consideration such as the use of funding to provide incentives for better governance.
