Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Prosperity, equity, good governance, and good health: focus on HIV/AIDS pandemic & its feminisation (pdf 170kb)

This paper examines the association of wealth, equity and good governance in the HIV/AIDS pandemic and looks at the importance of promoting gender equity.

A cross-country analysis was performed on adult HIV prevalence and the percentage of women among adults living with HIV/AIDS. It was found that these two indicators were significantly connected with wealth, economic equity and gender equity as the two main factors linked with the HIV/AIDS epidemics.
