Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Cheap and effective ways to change adolescent's sexual behaviour (pdf 270kb)

This article reports the results of a recent randomised evaluation that assessed the relative effectiveness of four school-based approaches to HIV/AIDS education in Kenya.

It highlights programs with are both effective and cheap. An example give shows that informing students about the high HIV prevalence rate among older men led to a dramatic change in behaviour - a 65 percent drop in the number of primary school girls having babies with older men.
