Microfinance and poverty: the Japanese experiences (pdf 120kb)
This presentation provides a Japanese perspective on the role of microfinance in poverty reduction through an examination of the historical development of microfinance in Japan.The presentanation uses examples such as highlighting mechanisms developed in the early twentieth century to serve small farmers and others without access to formal finance, including industrial associations, cooperative financial institutions and ROSCAs.
