Violence against women

Violence against women in Melanesia and East Timor: a review of International lessons (pdf 225kb)

The Office of Development Effectiveness (AusAID) has completed a review of a number of programs addressing violence against women in Melanesia (Fiji, PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu) and East Timor, with a view to building the evidence base to guide efforts to address violence against women and promote gender equality.

Violence against women is a development problem and a human rights issue. The economic, social and health-related costs are substantial.
