Fiji annual program performance report 2007 (pdf 145kb)

This annual program performance update assesses the performance of AusAID's bilateral country program for Fiji over the 18-month period from January 2006 to June 2007.

Fiji's progress in achieving its development objectives and Australia's role during this time has been overwhelmingly influenced by the overthrow of the civilian government by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) on 5 December 2006.

Australia's aid strategy will focus on programs to mitigate the economic hardship experienced by communities (including rural enterprise development), contribute to an enabling environment for a return to democracy, and continue to strengthen the delivery of social services to rural areas.

This strategy will be based on various scenarios that allow the Fiji Program to respond flexibly to changes in the political situation and Australia's diplomatic response.
