Performance monitoring indicators: a handbook for task managers (pdf 240kb)

This handbook details indicators that serve as benchmarks against which to measure project progress toward development objectives, and more meaningful monitoring and evaluation.  The handbook has three main sections.

The first section provides an overview of performance monitoring indicators, their importance, their development (eg logical framework), and their use in World Bank work.

The second section describes eighteen different sector notes on indicators and their use, including how to obtain copies of these.

The third section cites examples of indicators developed for Bank-financed projects and their application.  This includes summary of objectives and indicators for 9 projects across a range of sectors, including in Chad, Honduras, Indonesia, Lithuania, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, and Venezuela.
