It teaches about what the Convention is, why it is important, the principles and practice regarding human rights, the rights of people with disabilities, and how to be a self-advocate.This publication is designed for anyone wanting a clear explanation of the CRPD, including people with intellectual disabilities, their organisations, and their advocates. Australia ratified the UN CPRD in July 2008 and joins 29 other countries around the world in a move that aims to ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy human rights on an equal basis with others.
