What is corruption?

A manager's guide to anti-corruption strategies (pdf 45kb)

The AusAID fact sheet provides a summary guide to the design of anti-corruption strategies.
The Office of Development Effectiveness (ODE) draws upon a paper regarding 'Approaches to anti-corruption: from PNG, Indonesia and Solomon Islands' to provide this broader guidance.

The fact sheet outlines the need for strong diagnostics in anti-corruption strategies, particularly during the diagnostic phase of programming.  It also draws from other donors' experiences, summing up issues such as the need for analysis of the governance environment, strengthened accountability, long-term improved governance, and partner country ownership of reform efforts.

Finally, it recommends an Australian approach to working with partner government systems to tackle anti-corruption, and ensuring this is framed within the broader shared goal of improving development effectiveness.
