Australian Development Gateway

The Australian Development Gateway (ADG) strives to support members of the development community in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. The site has been created with participation from members of government, private, academia and non-government organisations. User feedback mechanisms have been incorporated to guide future directions of the site. The site is optimised for low bandwidth access to enable the widest participation throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Practical guide to mainstreaming gender in water projects (pdf 480kb)

This research project investigates how engineers and managers can design projects to meet the needs of women, men and children.

The guide will assist engineers, planners and managers to consider the needs and demands of both women and men in peri-urban and rural water supply, sanitation and irrigation projects with practical suggestions for implementing gender sensitive projects.

The outputs of the project is a user-friendly guide for engineers and managers, together with a training pack and set of case studies.
